His Story
Umberto Righetti has spent the past 20 years working in sports technology and digital media guiding a small Australian start-up to develop software that today powers basketball and soccer in over 120 countries and is critical to the operations of the NBA, NCAA, FIBA and FIFA. He was a co-founder of Atrium Sports who acquired Keemotion, automated video capture for sports and Synergy Sports Technology, the leading basketball video analysis software used by all NBA and NCAA teams. Atrium Sports, re-branded to Synergy Sports and was sold to NASDAQ listed Sportradar, the world's leading sports technology company serving sports, media and betting, in 2021.
He lived in New York in 2021 and 2022 and Los Angeles in 2017 when he held the position of Managing Director of Genius Sports Media. He has spent most of his career in Australia responsible for the international expansion of the Australian sports technology business, SportingPulse International, winning contracts in basketball with FIBA and over 90 leading professional basketball leagues around the world and FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation in soccer.
He currently mentors and advises sports technology and sports data start-ups. As a former Scottish and Australian CPA he combines his business knowledge and passion for sport to the converging areas of marketing, media and technology. Prior to working in sports technology, he held a number of executive leadership positions within the international consulting firm PwC, heading strategy, innovation, business development and working on major transformation projects for the Australian firm.
He is also a GlobalCelt, adviser to the executive team at Scottish football champions, Glasgow Celtic FC and a GlobalScot, adviser helping Scottish companies export goods and services.
