Purpose of the Camp

Integration of Cultural Exchange and Basketball Training:
The "Grind to Shine" project aims to break the boundaries between traditional education and basketball training. By organically integrating cultural exchange with basketball training, we provide a unique sports and life experience for participating student-athletes. The following figures clearly illustrate the potential educational opportunities and diversified development for those students with athletic talent, helping recommend broader opportunities for further education and academic paths.

Global Trends in Education:
Currently, the development of campus sports in the United States covers 1,905 universities and colleges nationwide, with various levels of sports programs encompassing 102 college sports events. Annually, 662,000 student-athletes with sports talent and potential are recruited globally. This includes 350 D1 universities, 310 D2 universities, 445 D3 universities, 275 NAIA colleges, and 525 NJCAA colleges.

Comprehensive Growth and Learning Experience:
By combining culture and sports, students will experience comprehensive growth and learning. This involves improving basketball skills and encompasses cross-cultural communication, leadership, team collaboration, holistic development, and expanded perspectives. This all-encompassing growth experience will profoundly impact students' future development.

The UC (University of California) system universities all enjoy an overall reputation for excellence within the UC education system. Examples include the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), the University of California, Irvine (UCI), and the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). Each university possesses unique resources and strengths, with research capabilities and teaching standards ranking among the top in the United States.

Daily Activity 

• Hot air balloon ride to explore the sports town of Irvine Great Park.

• Visit the USS Midway Museum and explore the iconic sculpture "Unconditional Surrender,".

• Enjoy the Laguna Beach after the basketball training 

• Conduct an inspection and tour of the University of California, Irvine campus.

• Experience a technology-enhanced basketball training session

• Visit the Hollywood Walk of Fame and Universal Studios.

• Visit UCLA (University of California, Los Angeles) and the NBA Staples Center

• Visit the Sphere Center, and attend the NBA Summer League for observation (subject to schedule).

• Face-to-face sessions with experts and experience with the AREA15 center.

• Participate in a yacht excursion experience. (Depending on the schedule)

• Visit a Wild Rivers Water Park

• Training sessions, one-on-one assessments, and personalized guidance from renowned mentors.

• Training evaluation matches, award ceremony, camp closure, and an American-style outdoor BBQ.

• A day tour at a local shopping district, Spectrum Center

Our Coaching Team

Ma Jian

• The first Chinese player to participate in the NCAA college basketball league, and the first to undergo NBA trails and secure a contract. In 2023, honored by the National Sports Schools Federation as the "National Youth Basketball Skills Promotion Ambassador."

Spencer Levy

• Spencer worked at Moorpark College under Adam Mazarei(Assistant Coach for the Memphis Grizzlies) and Dan Wendt (Assistant coach for the NBA G league's Maine Red Claw)

Daniel Prince

• Assistant coach of UC Irvine for 3 year and 2 years in Northwestern University Men's Basketball team.

Emanuel Willis

• Alongside with LeBron James, as a player, he began his career in Asian national league team, 2016 he joined the HongKong Falcons Club.

Cedrick Middleton​

• Founder of CM sports Training, specializing in basketball skill development combined with strength and conditioning training.

Rasheem Barrett

• His journey spanning across the United States, Europe and Latin America. In the 2012-2013 season of the Argentine National Professional League, he achieved and outstanding average of 28 points per game.

Martin Ma

• One of the founder of the Nike All-China High School Basketball League, played a key role in mentoring the first Asian female high school student -athlete to the NCAA. In 2016, he collaborated with NBA superstar Kobe Bryant to produce China's first basketball-themed entertainment TV series, "The League of Extraordinary Ballers."
